SCOTUS Grants Cert in Abortion Case

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal regarding a New Hampshire law which requires parental notification before a minor may undergo an abortion. The First Circuit had previously struck the law down because it lacked a provision which would protect the minor's health in the event of a medical emergency. The State of New Hampshire had unsuccessfully argued that the parental notification law need not have an "explicit health exception" because other state provisions call for exceptions when the mother's health is at risk.
