"I will do everything in my power to prevent one more ideological ally from joining Roberts and Alito on the Court"

Speaking at the Fifth Annual ACS National Convention, Senator Schumer said that "Given the track record of this president and the experience of obfuscation at the hearings . . . . we should not confirm a Supreme Court nominee except in extraordinary circumstances."

Mr. Schumer,
Your point of view on Supreme Court Nominees is typical of the Democrats obstructionist politics. You and fellow Democrats sole agenda appears to be reversing all Republican polices of the past few years rather than setting your own agenda and leading by example. From what I have seen the individuals your party would like to see on the court are not in the main stream either, in fact it can be argued they are further out of the mainstream than the current court. You state you were hoodwinked by Justices Alito and Roberts. Their body of work was there to be evaluated. If you relied soley on their testimony and not their body of work then you were not hoodwinked you were poorly prepared. Haven't you heardn the best predictor of future actions is past performance. I suggest you follow this adage and evaluate every nominee on their merit rather than dismissing them outright because of who appointed them. If you don't you would be no better than the President you consider to be abusing his authority. The role of Congress is not to determine if the nominee posseses a particular philosophy, but rather to determine if he has the legal mind and reasoning of a justice. I would also like you to know that I am not a republican, but have been a life longf democrat. However I feel at the present time what the party considers mainstream is actually extreme.
