Congressman Bob Matsui Dies Of Rare Disease
ACSBlog's condolences go to the family of Congressman Bob Matsui (D-CA), who died Saturday night of Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a rare stem cell disorder that reduces the body's ability to produce blood. Matsui, who spent his infancy in an internment camp for Japanese-Americans, was a 26 year Congressional veteran.
"With the passing of Bob Matsui, our country has lost a great leader and America's seniors have lost their best friend in Congress," House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said in a statement.
Congressman Matsui's seat will be filled by a special election in his Sacremento-area district.
