Senator Leahy: Supreme Court Has Undermined U.S. Constitution
On Friday at the ACS National Convention, Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) called the current U.S. Supreme Court one of the most activist in history for a series of recent rulings he said have undermined the U.S. Constitution and federal and state laws designed to protect the health, safety and economic well-being of Americans.

While I certainly agree with Mr. Leahy's comments on protecting the Constitution, it always strikes me as funny when politicians from either side of the isle are quick to critize the Court for being activist when the decision is one they do not agree with. I too believe in not holding POW's without chargeing them, but I think that we should turned them over to Iraq or Pakistan in the first place. The countries that they are trying to destroy is who should determine what should be done with them.
When you talk about law suits, monetary judgements should only be part of a settlement, and certainly not outrageous dollar amounts. You cannot replace a life or a limb or returns ones life to what it was, no matter how much money there is, so why should a company have to settle themselves out of business. There are certainly exceptions, but suing a businesses out of business is like saying that shooting all criminals will stop crime, oh wait that might work. JMHO
