Student Chapter of the Week: Harvard Law School
ACS’ Harvard Law School chapter had an impressive nineteen events last semester, featuring notable speakers such as Judge Stephen Reinhardt, Tom Goldstein, Mark Tushnet and David Cole. Topics discussed included Abigail Alliance v. Eschenbach, Gonzales v. Cohart, Medellin v. Texas, Al Marri v. Wright, the war on terror, a Supreme Court Term review, new federalism, civil liberties and economic justice, the unitary executive theory and presidential authority.
In addition to creating a 1L mentorship program this year, the ACS Harvard Chapter hosted a study tips session with 2Ls and 3Ls at the beginning of the fall and at the semester’s end, and a job search advice panel. This semester they have already held three events on the Supreme Court and the Second Amendment, the Iraqi refugee crisis and shifting borders of immigration regulation.
