Student Chapter of the Week: University of Michigan Law School
The ACS Student Chapter at the University of Michigan is this week’s Student Chapter of the Week.
Last semester, the chapter held thirteen events, including a review of the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court docket, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and “What’s God Got To Do With It?” an analysis of public religious expression. They co-sponsored events with the ACLU, the Federalist Society, Outlaws, Law Students for Reproductive Justice, the Catholic Law Students Association, the Christian Legal Society, and the Jewish Law Students Association.
Featured speakers included Thomas Goldstein, creator of the SCOTUSBLOG, and Steve Stitt, City Attorney of Siloam Springs, AR. The University of Michigan Chapter began the year by hosting an event featuring Judge Robert W. Pratt, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Iowa, who spoke about two recent cases, Gall v. United States and Americans United. In addition, the ACS Student Chapter at Michigan maintains a strong website that keeps their community informed of both local chapter events along with links to national ACS events, ACSBlog, and links for ACS membership.
