W. H. Attorneys Took Part In Discussion of Destruction of Secret CIA Interrogation Tapes

White House attorneys Alberto Gonzales, David Addington, Harriet Miers, and John Bellinger all took part in discussions regarding whether to destroy secret CIA interrogation videotapes whose destruction will be the subject of a hearing on Friday to determine whether their destruction violated a court order to preserve evidence, the New York Times reported.

The tapes were ultimately ordered destroyed by Jose Rodriguez, Jr., the chief of the CIA's clandestine branch, although accounts indicate that neither the CIA's top lawyer, John Rizzo, nor the head of the CIA, Porter Goss, were informed before Rodriguez sent the order for the tapes destruction.
