The Alliance for Justice issued a seventeen page preliminary report on Michael Mukasey's nomination for the position of U.S. Attorney General. The report identifies four questions that must be answered to assess whether Mukasey "is qualified for the special and difficult role he faces in restoring the Department's reputation in the face of continuing political pressure from the White House."

The report argues that without full disclosure of information about what has gone wrong in the past,
the Senate cannot evaluate Mukasey's qualifications and commitment to make needed changes and to resist improper political influence. It also explores Mukasey's record on various issues.
